I Went To Dinner Last Night
First off, I want to say that isn't a glass of wine! It was a delicious mocktail (recipe below), and the photo was taken by a dear friend who is about 20 years younger than I am. Why is that important? Because I was sharing with her what happens in menopause, why a mocktail is a gift to feeling great, why I had dressing on the side (so much sugar in salad dressing), and why we had to eat at 7 PM and not 8 PM. You get me. You know what I was up to—sharing what I've learned over the past 10 years about how to hack this menopause thing.
Hacking Menopause
The results? I've lost 33 pounds. But it's not about the number; it's about feeling at home in your body, not laying in a pool of sudden sweat, and not having people ask if you're pregnant at the grocery store. It's about getting out of bed with energy, not achy joints. It's about putting your health first above that glass of wine, that late-night ice cream, that last episode of your favorite show at midnight so you can get a solid seven hours of sleep.
Every Choice Matters
Every choice you make impacts menopause. How many times have you heard, "I can't sleep," while your buddy holds a second glass of wine? Or, "I don't know how I am gaining weight. I hardly eat." Everything—and I mean everything—changes when perimenopause begins. From personal experience, I can share that starting with protein is the secret.
The Power of Protein
Start there, and then you get your head on straight, and everything else falls into place. Ever notice that when you start to feel better, you feel even better? Love you all and have a great weekend.
